  • Introductory class: Access on-demand videos to get started on your learning journey (20-minute session). Free to access!

  • Group workshop: A deep dive opportunity to practice what you’ve learned with live feedback from a FireUp coach and your peer network (60-90 minute sessions). Paid; sponsorships available.  

  • Coaching: Sign up for personalized 1:1 coaching sessions with a FireUp coach to master your new Job Ready, Career Ready, and Life Ready skills (45-60 minute sessions). Paid; sponsorships available.

Meet your Coaches

  • Ryan Richards

    Ryan has worked in the Fire Service for both federal and local agencies over the past 15+ years. He has led agency wildland divisions and crews as a Captain and coordinated with state and national agencies to acquire grants for wildland fire safety work and fuels reduction. He has mentored new firefighters, and developed training and education programs, including as a current part time instructor at a community college in the Flagstaff, Arizona. His true passion lies in helping others and he is very happy to now be a member of the FireUp team helping coach the next generation of fire and forestry professionals.

  • Mark Howell profile pic

    Mark Howell

    Mark is a master mitigator and innovation instigator, who blends 25+ years of broad public safety and wildland fire management experience with a lifetime of human factors nerdiness to create custom collaborative solutions for Fire, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Management. He started his career in 2005 with Kings County (CA) FD as a volunteer, in 2008 was accepted to the Wildland Fire Apprenticeship Program on Sequoia NF, then held progressive Fire Management positions until 2021. In the Fall of 2021, Mark left U.S. Forest Service and founded Grounded Truths LLC dealing in Wildland Fire, Prescribed Fire, Emergency Management, and unusual events (e.g. Total Solar Eclipse) planning, preparedness, and response.

  • Anne Martin profile picture

    Anne Martin

    Anne has been a first responder for 14+ years, and after experiencing a severe injury on the job, found her way navigating through different therapies for several years. After diving into the alternative path, she found a passion in learning and teaching different modalities to first responders and trauma survivors to be able to release their negative beliefs and create positive experiences for themselves. She has overcome her diagnoses of anxiety, depression, and PTSD by committing herself to her own growth and has evoked powerful change in her clients as well. Through her practice, Evergreen Coaching and Wellness, Anne offers deep healing through coaching, breath work, and alternative modalities. Anne has now accumulated thousands of hours in training and experience in transformation.

  • Colin Bryan

    Colin is an operations and technology professional with over 9 years of experience in IT project management, product innovation, and entrepreneurship. Motivated by the 2023 Canadian wildfires, Colin leveraged his networking skills to pivot his career toward supporting social impact and climate-focused entrepreneurs. He now helps clients launch products, streamline operations, and scale their impact through innovative systems and processes.

  • Robert Trent

    Robert is the founder and Executive Director of Sierra Commons, where he helps entrepreneurs plan, launch, and grow successful businesses. He also serves as a business advisor with the Sierra Small Business Development Center and co-leads the Forest Entrepreneurship Training Program in partnership with the Sierra Business Council.

    This innovative, tuition-free initiative supports economic development and wildfire mitigation across Northern California. Robert’s work is rooted in a deep commitment to building sustainable local economies and has played a key role in revitalizing Nevada County’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, empowering small business owners and fostering resilience in rural communities.
