Job Market Trends

30 August, 2024

In the past five months, the most-clicked jobs on the FireUp job board have been in Operations, Marketing & Communications, Administration, and Information Technology (IT) roles.

Of the 1,723 clicks on jobs and 240+ applications submitted through FireUp to date, Operations roles have been most interesting to applicants. In addition to wildland fire management positions, operational roles increasingly include prescribed fire and fuel mitigation positions across employer types.

Specialized and technical roles such as Software Engineering, Sales & Business Development, Data Analytics, and Carbon Science are also seeing notable interest from job seekers. This trend also points to the availability of transferrable skills from adjacent industries, including climate tech at large.

Mission-driven organizations and roles that focus on conservation, environmental management, stewardship, fire response, and public safety tend to see most interest from applicants.

Overall, state and federal agencies are still most attractive to job seekers, reflecting a high demand for stability, benefits, and roles with impact at scale.

However, non-profits and private companies, including FireTech startups, are fast gaining traction with job seekers, particularly for innovation-driven roles and mission-focused work.

Jobs on the FireUp platform tend to stay open for an average of 27 days, highlighting the importance of streamlining hiring processes to attract and secure top candidates who are actively looking.

Remote Positions remain highly attractive to job seekers due to flexibility, so remote work options may attract a wider talent pool.

Understanding these trends can help both employers and job seekers make informed decisions and optimize their strategies for success in the fire and forestry industry.

As we continue to refine our platform, we're committed to providing valuable data and insights to help both job seekers and employers succeed.
